Webbe’s is delighted and proud to announce it’s association with this brand new project opening soon in the complex of buildings built at The Stade on the beach beside the Jerwood Gallery.

Classroom on the Coast
at the The Stade, Hastings will be –

- The world’s first sustainable seafood teaching kitchen & classroom based on the beach directly at an MSC fishery

- Home to the world’s only Sustainable Seafood Education Institute

- Home to The Fishing Skills Academy for new entrants to fishing, the only such facility in the south east corner of England

- A centre of excellence that will become a beacon to anyone on the planet interested in the future of seafood, ocean and coast

- A seamless, one stop destination at source for information and cooperation on marine and coastal sustainability issues

 
It will offer a unique venue and opportunity to share -

- The knowledge and skills of expert fishermen, fishmongers, chefs, ecologists, environmentalists, marine organisations and educators on every aspect of fish from their habitats and how to breed a net, to the benefits of sustainable fishing methods and to how to cook fish at home.

For schools, chefs, fishmongers, new entrants to fishing, restaurateurs, families, leisure cooks, anglers, the general public and the media.

- Teaching will include hands-on practice, demonstrations, talks and lectures, workshops, seminars and classes covering seafood selection, preparation & cooking, breeding a net, species identification, practical ecology,

- Webbe’s Hastings Fish & Seafood School – Professional & leisure cooks training,. Chef, restaurateur, amateur cook, schools and public sustainability teaching.

- Billingsgate Seafood Training School - Fishmonger training

- Marine Stewardship Council – Sustainability Certification and Education through workshops for chefs and restaurateurs

- Natural England

Recognised as one of the most perfect examples of a sustainable fishery in the world by the Marine Stewardship Council, supplier of premium quality sustainable fish to Holland, Belgium, Spain and France as well as the UK, Hastings fishery  is already much visited by foodies, environmentalists and the media.
